Decentraland is a 3D virtual world browser-based platform. It is built by its own users, filled with commerce, experiences, and brands. Users can buy virtual plots of land as NFTs via the Ethereum blockchain based MANA cryptocurrency. FUN FACT: Elevation owns 1 plot in Decentraland!
To test out our Decentraland building skills, we decided to deploy our own virtual Elevation HQ on our plot in the art district. So, we started planning!
Inspiration:
We wanted something modern, with clean lines, lots of windows and of course an elevator to take advantage of the plot height.
We built the model using traditional 3D software (C4D) for the main build, and Blender for the materials. We had to optimize the geometry to be lightweight for Decentraland. We then used the DCL Builder tools to add functionality for the screens, elevator, and barriers for walls/floors. It was fun to learn the process!
