The Search

Think of the memories you cherish most. The moments you learn. The moments you grow. The moments that you share with the ones that make a moment momentous. Every one of these moments shapes us. Every little piece makes us who we are. Imagine those moments slipping through your fingers. Escaping. Drifting off to somewhere unknown. Somewhere you can never find in this life.

That’s the reality for the 5.8 million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease. The loss of memory not only has an unthinkable effect on the individual, but also takes a tremendous toll on family and friends who watch with a sense of helplessness as their loved one declines. Praying that wherever their memories are drifting off to, it’s somewhere better. Somewhere they can be at peace.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, honoring those who serve as Alzheimer’s caretakers. Please join us this month in spreading awareness. There are many different ways to help: Sign up for an Alzheimer’s walk. Donate to help the Alzheimer’s Association as they search for a cure to this heart-wrenching disease. Or simply thank a caregiver.
