Tonka Tiny Takes

We collaborated with Funrise on a series of digital shorts for their iconic brand Tonka. This online campaign promoted Tonka Tinys vehicles and sets.

And when they say “tiny,” they mean really, really tiny!

We sold Funrise on doing a stop motion campaign to allow us to give the vehicles some personality and life. Because these were intended to work as kid-entertainment pieces, we put on our “dad joke” hats and wrote pages and pages of potential jokes. We really wanted to evoke the feeling that these could be scenes played out by kids. Helium voices seemed to be the most obvious choice for characters that make a quarter look big.

The production was a multi day stop motion shoot, using macro lens photography and a MILO motion control rig. Each storyline was shot in sequences with as much “in-camera” work as possible. Following editorial and some roto/composite clean up, we had a fun set of “Tiny Takes.”
